FatCow Review :

FatCow Web Hosting have been around for years but are a little known gem in the hosting industry and is one not often talked about on the web. Plans start at just $6.50 a month which includes un-metered bandwidth, disk space and hosted domains.

All plans come with free domain registration, unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disk space plus plenty of advertising credits to get your website of the ground. You also receive a free website builder like the other hosts but notably they don’t seem to offer fantastico script library, but do offer some alternatives.

With unlimited bandwidth, disk space, MySQL databases & hosted domains starting from just $6.50 sacrificing cPanel for H-Sphere may not be too bad. It’s important to note that FatCow Web Hosting also offers a 30 day money back guarantee, any web host prepared to offer a no questions asked guarantee like this is obviously pretty confident with their services.

Bluehost are normally high priced at $6.95/month but we currently have a link so you can sign up for just $3.95. No anytime money back with bluehost but still a great deal which includes a free domain.

The customer support over at BlueHost is equally as reliable as their hosting. Calls are answered promptly and politely with a helpful technical specialist. Tickets are responded to within minutes and the average resolution time is just 35 minutes by email and 15 minutes on the phone.

HostMonster Review :

Overview:
HostMonster have been in hosting website since 1996 and are providing hosting to over 450,000 people. HostMonster use the same support team as BlueHost their sister company however the two are run as different organizations. Hostmonster have a very simple sign up process which is always good, for those who don’t want to go through a hundred steps just to order hosting.

Features:
HostMonster are another host offering the unlimited bandwidth and disk space, with a free domain and free setup also included. Other features include a free site builder and over 50 pre-installed scripts. They also offer some free ad credits to help with website marketing.

Summary:
HostMonster are defiantly a host worth considering, although we have had some reliability issues in the past. With a great track record for support and features, HostMonster are a commendable host.

Reliability and Uptime:
HostMonster use the finest quality servers and hosting equipment with 24/7 monitoring & UPS power backup. Reliability has always been a good selling point for hostmonster and we have always received great results and feedback.

HostGator Review :

Overview:
HostGator web hosting were first formed back in 2002 by owner Brent Oxley whilst he was still at university. HostGator grew very rapidly from a small hosting company into a large one very quickly without the usual teething problems.

Features:
Hostgator shared hosting offer unlimited disk space and bandwidth and come with free setup. Although you do have to pay $15 for your domain name, which not many hosts still charge for. No fantastic which is a slight disappointment as this includes all the easy 1 click software installs of wordpress, joomla etc. Unlike some most of the other major shared web hosting companies HostGator diversed into dedicated and reseller hosting also.

Summary:
A good solid web hosting company in our opinion but they do have lots of mixed views on their reliability. No free domain and no fantastico suite is a little disappointing.

Price:
Their shared hosting plans come with no free domain so you will have to pay $15 for that. Their cheapest plan is called hatchling and is $6.95/month based on a year contract. This doesn’t let you have parked or addon domains though, you will need to opt for a more expensive plan. So they are by far not the cheapest host around.

Reliability and Uptime:
We have found hostgator to have quite good uptime and speeds haven’t been to bad. Although as mentioned before we have had mixed reviews on this.

Control Panel:
HostGator use cPanel which is always a winner in our eyes. It’s simple and a control panel lots of webmasters already know.

Customer Support:
Support is 24/7 via phone and email. Support has always been good with hostgator so expect a high level of service.

Being “Green”, is the big feature which stands out, but Super Green Hosting also offer all the same high spec of features you expect from a top host. They are offering unlimited disk space, unlimited bandwidth, free instant setup, free site builder, cPanel, and Free domain for life. On top of that, they offer to “Plant one tree for every thousand customers” which we think is great!

Summary:
We think Super Green Hosting are great – to put it simple! Allowing you and your website to show you are thinking about the environment and not having to pay extra, and still receive all the great features. If you or your company are looking to be more environmentally friendly, and still get the same deal, features and support Super Green Hosting is a must!

Price:

Super Green Hosting use our favourite control panel – cPanel. We found their version of this control panel easy to use with a friendly user-interface, and also very quick with page loading times.

Customer Support:
Once again, Super Green Hosting don’t disappoint in the support section. With an extensive help desk system, many tutorials including video tutorials, a toll-free phone number which is manned 24/7 and, from our tests, all queries are answered and resolved within 5-10 minutes!

Yahoo Web Hosting Review :

Overview:
Yahoo web hosting are probably the biggest brand in the hosting world (Only because Google is not involved in web hosting)and this is a big attraction to hosting newcomers as they have a well known name, but this doesn’t always mean you will get the best service or the best value for money. Yahoo are better known for their search engine technology and email accounts but they also offer small business web hosting solutions too.

Features:
Yahoo offers a very extensive website building facility which includes one-click contact forms and advanced photo galleries. A bonus of going with Yahoo is that they give all their hosting customers bonus PPC advertising credits. Yahoo hosting plans now come with unlimited transfer and space as they have followed their competition to avoid being left behind.

Summary:
As you would expect Yahoo does offer a great web hosting solution, and it’s hard to fault their control panel and reliability. Overall you are paying a premium price for Yahoo and we think this is largely due to their brand rather than the advanced features, but with that being said we still recommend yahoo as a top web host, just value for money lets them down.

Price:
Yahoo web hosting is priced very highly. Their shared hosting plans start at $9.95/month which is almost three times as much as some of the other web hosts and we cannot see any reason to justify this other than they are a huge trusted brand. So you are paying for the name not the service.

Reliability and Uptime:
Yahoo needs one of the most complex datacenter architectures for their non hosting ventures so they have passed on this knowledge and structure to their web hosting subsidiary to offer secure reliably hosting. As they are not solely dedicated to hosting we believe that their uptime for customers has suffered as being such a huge brand you would expect them to be the number one web host in the world. We have never experienced any long outages with any of are test websites hosting with yahoo though and believe them to be as reliable as their search engine.

Control Panel:
Yahoo has designed and developed their very own hosting interface which lots of custom features and services for them. We found their control panel to be self explanatory and it didn’t take us long to work out navigation and feature usage. Their top feature has to be their own website building tools which are easy to use and actually very intuitive so even beginners can almost teach themselves website building.

Customer Support:
Yahoo’s customer support is excellent as you would expect. All customers receive 24/7 phone and email from highly trained technical staff. They do however lack live person support which every other top host uses.

Go Daddy Review :

Overview:
GoDaddy was founded in 1997 and was an instant success largely due to their famous super bowl commercials and high profile company mascots. GoDaddy offers both hosting and domain name registration at a low cost. 11 years on and GoDaddy now has the highest number of domain registrations in the world and their hosting customers aren’t to far behind either.

Features:
All GoDaddy accounts include instant setup like Just Host, Google Webmaster Tools, free Adword credits and more. Their hosting services are designed to cater for everyone from personal users with low requirements to high end users needing huge amounts of disk space and bandwidth to run their websites and businesses.

Summary:
GoDaddy have good support and reasonable pricing however you may want to shop around first as GoDaddy’s control panel isn’t the easiest to use. Either way they must be doing something right being one of the biggest hosting companies in the US.

Reliability and Uptime:
GoDaddy have suffered a lot of bad publicity over the previous years in regards to their poor uptime however things seem to be picking up and we found them much more reliable as of late. So it seems GoDaddy have got things back on track and users, including ourselves are starting to see a notable difference.

Control Panel:
Godaddy have developed their own control panel which is relatively easy to use once you have mastered it, but if you are used to cPanel this can take some time. Unlike other web hosting providers GoDaddy’s control panel is designed to cater for the whole range of services they offer. Instead of specializing on hosting they’ve tried to create something far too complex resulting in a messy control panel for their user!

Customer Support:
GoDaddy’s support is usually quick and responsive and should have your concerns or queries answered reasonably fast for a company with such a large customer base. You should try to avoid calling at peak times as you will be waiting for 10 – 15 minutes but with 24/7 email and telephone support you shouldn’t have a problem getting the help and advice you need.
